Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Short version: Intora stores your intolerance profile and saved lists locally on your device. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal health data with third parties.
1. Information We Collect
Intora is designed with privacy by default. The information we use is minimal and limited to what is strictly necessary to provide the service.
Information you provide directly
- Your food intolerance profile (e.g. lactose, fructose, sorbitol, gluten) — stored locally on your device
- Products you add to your personal saved list — stored locally on your device
- Search queries you enter within the app — sent to Open Food Facts to fetch results, not stored by Intora
Information collected automatically
Intora does not require an account and does not collect identifiers such as your name or email. If we add optional analytics or crash reporting in the future, it will be consent-based.
- Basic usage analytics (e.g. screen views, feature interactions) — only if you grant consent
- Device type and OS version for crash reporting purposes
- App version in use
We do not collect account credentials unless you explicitly create an account in a future version of the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Display personalised intolerance warnings and product ratings within the app
- Save and restore your preferences and saved product lists across sessions
- Improve app performance and fix bugs based on aggregated, anonymised crash data
- Understand which features are most useful (aggregate analytics only, with consent)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving Intora.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your intolerance profile and saved lists are stored entirely in your browser's local storage (or the app's local data store). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
When you perform a product search, queries are sent to the Open Food Facts API over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Intora does not log or store these queries on our servers.
We apply industry-standard security practices for any data that does transit our infrastructure, including TLS encryption in transit and encrypted storage at rest.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Open Food Facts: product searches are routed through the Open Food Facts API. Your query is subject to their privacy policy at openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with applicable law.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred as part of the business assets, subject to the same privacy commitments.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
Intora uses browser local storage (not cookies) to persist your settings and saved items between sessions. This data is stored on your device only and is not accessible to us.
You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or within the app via Profile → Settings → Clear Data. Clearing this data will reset your intolerance profile and saved lists.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection: object to certain types of processing
Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly without contacting us. For any other requests, contact us at intora.app@gmail.com.
If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children's Privacy
Intora is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide a notice within the app.
Continued use of Intora after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
